03 Nov AFRICAN-AMERICAN DANCE COMPANY TO HONOR SULLIVAN, WORKMAN & DEE FOR HELP WITH KEY REAL ESTATE DISPUTE
After the 1994 Northridge earthquake wrecked the Lula Washington Dance Company’s building, the modern dance organization focused on setting up their future location with assistance from FEMA and gifts from generous sponsors. Despite repeated efforts, the necessary permits never came and key grants to accomplish the project disappeared. The dance company turned to Sullivan, Workman & Dee LLP for help and filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles and the Community Redevelopment Agency. After a three-year legal battle, a settlement was reached and funds were received for their new building.
